Feb 25, 2008-Sovereign Hill

Today we went to Sovereign Hill,Ballarat. It was an open air museum recreating aspects of life in the city's gold mining heydays of the 1850's. Everyone was in period custome and the whole town was re-created from blacksmiths that still make horse-shoes to bakeries. A great experience. Carl panned for gold but without any luck however we did see them melting gold down and forming it into a brick. The brick of 99.99% pure gold weighed 100 ounces.
We are now in Melbourne until we fly to Alice Springs on February 28th, Dean's Birthday.
I will post some of our pictures.
